I-O DATA DEVICE, INC. will release the " SSPG-USC series ", a business-card-sized USB 3.1 shock-resistant portable SSD at the end of November.

Saiga NAK has previously introduced the "SSPH-UT Series", "SSPH-UA Series", and "SSPX-GC Series" portable gaming SSDs from I-O DATA. This time, the model number and design of the new SSPG-USC series has been completely redesigned.

From "pocket size" to "business card size

SSPG-USCシリーズ

Even faster read/write speeds

Compared to SSDs in previous series, both read and write speeds have evolved.
The SSPH-UA series has a read speed of approximately 440 MB/s and write speed of approximately 430 MB/s.
The SSPX-GC series has read and write speeds of approximately 450 MB/s and 440 MB/s, respectively, and the SSPG-U series has read and write speeds of approximately 430 MB/s and 430 MB/s.
The "SSPG-USC series" has a read speed of approximately 530MB/s and a write speed of approximately 460MB/s. The "SSPG-USC series" has evolved a step further.

Incidentally, only the 500GB model is even faster, with a write speed of approximately 490MB/s. This is compared to the initial PS4 model.

Ruggedness that meets MIL standards

Durability is a concern when carrying the device in a bag or pocket.
The "SSPG-USC series" has been tested in accordance with the performance test (MIL-STD) adopted for military products by the U.S. Department of Defense, in which the product is dropped multiple times from a height of 122 cm, and it seems to have passed this test.
This was also the case with the previous "SSPH-UT series" and "SSPH-UA series," so it can be said that the SSD has proven robustness.

The 500GB hard drive can be purchased at the manufacturer's direct sales price at the manufacturer's direct sales site "ioPLAZA ".
The direct sales price is 12,200 yen (including tax) for 500GB, 20,878 yen (including tax) for 1TB, and 38,280 yen (including tax) for 2TB, with a discount on top of the tax price and a 10% point rebate. This seems to be a very affordable option at the time of release.

Compared to the previous model, the new model seems to be well supported with USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatibility, both USB Type-A and Type-C. It can be used with the latest PCs such as Surface Go and MacBook equipped with USB Type-C without any problem.
