BlackBerry Classic, the long-awaited BlackBerry fan, has arrived, and I'm going to unpack it and review it!
Review

Fangler with many BlackBerry users. Another BlackBerry has been added to the list!
This is a BlackBerry " BlackBerry Classic " model number is "SQC100-1" and it is a global model.
By the way, I bought it at Expansys.

BlackBerry Classic arrived!

Here is the box. It is a simple design. All of the recent models have capital letters.

Open the box! It is packed so tightly...
It's so tightly packed that I was worried the screen might break.
(It's so tightly packed that I'm afraid the screen will break.)

A close-up of the keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard is synonymous with BlackBerry.
The keys are uneven so that they are easy to press.
The model I purchased this time is a Hong Kong model, so the Chinese strokes are engraved on the keys for numbers 1 to 5 (engraved in yellow).
I thought that Chinese was engraved with more guts, but I don't mind this much.

Summary of accessories

内容物Saiga NAK

The BlackBerry Classic comes with the following items

  • Earphone
  • microUSB cable
  • AC adapter
  • User's manual (English and Chinese)
  • Pin for SIM card slot

The following is a list of the items that were included in the package.
All necessary items were included.
The earphones are similar to those that came with the BlackBerry Q10.

The film on the back has a tutorial illustration on how to open the SIM card slot.
The back is treated to prevent slipping and has a matte texture and feel; light reflecting off the BlackBerry logo is glaring...

Note that the BlackBerry Classic has a nanoSIM SIM card size.
Since iPhone5 or later is nanoSIM, SoftBank nanoSIM can be inserted.

Now it's time to start up! Initial settings.

This is the language setting screen after startup.
Default was set to Chinese, but as with BBOS10.2, Japanese was properly supported. That's a relief.

BlackBerry OS10.3 is installed, and a flat design is adopted from this OS.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the BlackBerrys we had in the office.
From left to right: BlackBerry Bold 9900, BlackBerry Q10, and BlackBerry Classic.
The BlackBerry Classic is bigger in this view.

When I put them together like this, Classic is outstandingly large.

Forming a circle with BlackBerry

Finally, we gathered all BlackBerrys in the company for a commemorative photo.
Surprisingly, there are only a few BlackBerry users.
I would like to convey the appeal of BlackBerry so that we can increase the market share of BlackBerry in our company.

Impressions, reviews, and notes

About the size

The first thing I thought when I held the BlackBerry Classic in my hands was that it was "bigger than I expected" and "heavier than I expected.
Compared to the Q10, the BlackBerry Classic is relatively large, and compared to the Bold 9900, it feels much larger and heavier.
Note that this is not a small device that a person with small hands can operate with one hand.

About frequency

The global model SQC100-1 can use SoftBank's platinum band and can grab LTE, but the APN is not recognized automatically and must be set manually.
(Also, the Japanese technical certification mark has not been approved, so it is necessary to use an overseas SIM card.)

BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry Passport have acquired Japan's Technical Regulations Compliance Mark, commonly known as the "Technical Regulations Mark," and can be used in Japan by inserting a SIM card from docomo, SoftBank, or a low-cost SIM from a MVNO. It is now possible to insert a SIM card from docomo, SoftBank, or any MVNO.
Of course, you can also connect to Wi-Fi! Now you can use your BlackBerry to make phone calls and connect to the Internet in Japan!

Operating feel

The trackbuds, menu keys, and other physical keys that have been restored from this model are still quite easy to use, and BlackBerry fans who were unsure about changing from the 9900 will probably be satisfied with this model.

About applications

Since AmazonAppStore is preinstalled from BlackBerry OS 10.3, you can easily install Android applications if you have an Amazon account.
BlackBerry World has an image of having a small number of applications, but since AmazonAppStore is available and you can install directly from APK files, there is no need to worry about the number of applications.

Although this is a change from iPhone5, I do not feel any particular inconvenience in terms of applications.

The user agent of the standard browser is as follows.

Mozilla/5.0 (BB10; Kbd) AppleWebKit/537.35+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.3.1.1154 Mobile Safari/537.35+

The rendering engine is AppleWebKit, which can be identified by "Mobile Safari" in the smartphone judgment.
Incidentally, "BlackBerry" was included in the user agent of the previous BlackBerry OS, but it became "BB10" from BBOS10.

That's all for this BlackBerry Classic unboxing ceremony and review!
