ASUS JAPAN, Ltd. will release the " TUF Gaming VG259Q ", an IPS gaming monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms fast response time, from February 7, 2020 in Japan. The monitor will go on sale in Japan on February 7, 2020!
ASUS kindly gave us the opportunity to be the first to touch the monitor before it goes on sale, and we would like to review it here at Fangler Games.

Now it's time to open the package.

Let's start with the accessories.

A quick start guide with no text and illustrations explaining how to assemble the unit, and a warranty card.

The cables include an AC adapter, power cable, HDMI cable, and DisplayPort cable.

Next is the main unit of the monitor. The arm is connected to the display and the pedestal is inserted into the arm.

I assembled it as soon as possible. A simple job of connecting it to the base and turning the screws to secure it in place.

And it's important to note how beautiful it looks from the back!

The gamer-friendly design that is constructed in some places looks especially good in an environment where the back side of the monitor is also visible, as in the Saiga NAK' battle table.

The specs information is printed in red on the "stripes" as seen on mobile suits. Ah, how beautiful...!

Even if the back of the unit is facing the wall, or even if you never see it after it is installed, you will smile at the many design innovations you will see when you unpack it.

What about the all-important performance?

Now that we have fully enjoyed the design excellence, let's taste the performance!

However, I am a console gamer.
Unfortunately, the PS4 Pro only supports refresh rates up to 60Hz, so in order to get the full benefit of 144Hz, I had to try it out in a PC environment!

So we asked our own Nash Tajima to give it a try right away.
Nash Tajima has a strong image as a gaming enthusiast, but in fact he is an all-around gamer and often plays FPS as well.
We asked him to try it out on "Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare.

Note that the game's graphics settings must be changed to 144Hz to take advantage of this feature.

As it turns out, "I don't usually play on such a nice monitor, but it makes such a difference! " and a big thumbs up.

The areas where we felt it excelled were

  • It runs so smooth that it's easy to correct even if you're off-aim.
  • It's easy to spot enemies because it highlights them even in dark areas.
  • When the mode is switched to FPS, the colors are clearer and enemies are easier to see.

Investing in devices to improve gameplay performance is becoming the norm.

In this context, we believe that changing the monitor not only makes the game more "beautiful" but also has a positive impact on the actual gameplay.

Would you like one of the "TUF Gaming VG259Q" for your next level of performance?
