What is the "Osaka eSports Study Group"?

a Kyoto-based architectural design firm, together with Hidehiko Kanegae, president of the Japan Simulation Society, and others, will launch the association.
Supported by the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau, the association is a research group that brings together industry, government, academia, and the city with the aim of revitalizing the city through e-sports.

Inaugural event "SPOTAKA CUP

The inaugural event "SPOTAKA CUP," to be held on May 31, 2019, is an e-sports tournament planned and managed by the "SPOTAKA EX Division.
The event will consist of three parts: an e-sports literacy seminar, a SPOTAKA CUP exhibition match, and a panel discussion.
The e-sports literacy seminar and panel discussion will be led by Koichi Hamamura, also known as the representative of Famitsu Group, who will give a solo performance and participate in a panel discussion with members of the Osaka eSports Association.

The SPOTAKA CUP exhibition match will feature active professional gamers Daigo Umehara (from daigothebeast), Dogura (CYCLOPS athlete gaming), and Koji KOG (Kyoto Susanoo), who will provide technical commentary and allow the audience to watch professional matches.

Event Details

Participation in "SPOTAKA CUP" is free of charge. Pre-registration on the official "SPOTAKA CUP" website is required to participate.
Since this is a chance to see professional gamers play live, the event is expected to attract participants from outside of Osaka, and will probably play a role in revitalizing the city.
