I went to the largest esports event "RAGE 2019 Summer" in Japan!

Event

On June 16, I attended RAGE 2019 Summer, one of the largest e-sports events in Japan, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

The event featured the " RAGE Shadowverse 2019 Summer GRAND FINALS," in which the eight winners out of 6,000 players competed for a whopping 4 million yen in prize money.

Other events include the " Shadowverse Queen's Cup 2019 Summer Preliminary Round/Quarterfinals " open only to women, the " RAGE PUBG MOBILE SOLO CHALLENGE " on PUBG, and a pre-release Zenonzard Apps Trial Play Corner " where you can experience Zenonzard before its release.

As this was my first experience at an e-sports event and I am addicted to PUBG Mobile, I was really looking forward to seeing the top players in action live.

First, the PUBG Corner!

The event was held at Makuhari Messe, one of the largest convention centers in Japan. Upon entering the venue, the first thing that greeted me was the PUBG Photo Spot.

Although I am a regular PUBG player, I was like, "Frypan's good! " I was so excited....

Weapons that appear in PUBG are also available, and you can actually hold them in your hands and take pictures of them.

Rifles, grenades, helmets, and the most powerful PUBG armor, the frying pan.

The stand on which these items are mounted is also a container for supplies, and I would have been a beehive of bees in the game if I had approached it unintentionally.

After the photo shoot, we were given PUBG stickers to commemorate the event. This is a perfect corner for fans.

The " RAGE PUBG MOBILE SOLO CHALLENGE " was being held right behind the PUBG Mobile event.
The top 16 qualifiers and invited players from a maximum of 160 players competed for the title of winner, and the last survivor during the match would win the title.

Realistic competition scenes

The players' perspectives on the screen are very realistic, and the audience's eyes are glued to the screen during tense scenes.

The author was very excited to see the high-level attacks and defenses by the top players!

The cheers become even louder when a player is cornered and then fires back with a shotgun for a stunning kill, creating an atmosphere that can only be experienced at a tournament, and which cannot be experienced online.

Grenades flying around

Of course, the top players are very good with all weapons. They are very skillful with grenades, which are difficult for beginners to handle.

I want to imitate him.

After the tournament, players from 1st to 3rd place were awarded 30,000-100,000 yen in web money and original T-shirts.

Shadowverse" Grand Prix with a ticket to the World Tournament at stake

" RAGE Shadowverse 2019 Summer GRAND FINALS " will be held on the main stage at the far end of the venue.
The two MCs will be the comedy duo "Akusei Shimobori" and TV Asahi announcer Keiko Hisatomi.

How will the contestants compete to advance to the Shadowverse World Tournament?

The tournament will feature 8 contestants who have won 6,000 places.
The winner of the tournament will receive 4 million yen in prize money, and the winner and runner-up will receive the right to compete in the "Shadowverse World Grand Prix," which has a prize money of approximately 100 million yen.

The prize money is on a whole other level when it comes to the world championship.

The matches were shown on a large screen on a special stage, and the players could be seen on a separate screen.

It was interesting to see how the players behaved while playing, as each player had his or her own personality.

The players who advanced to the finals were Elga and Zero/Kyon Haibara.

They lined up on the stage with their trophies in front of them, then clasped their fists together and pledged to fight each other.

The game was hotly contested, with neither side backing down, and the two players were still tied at 2-2 going into the fifth round. At the moment of the finish, the audience cheered "Oh! echoed through the hall.

The winner of the heated battle was Zero/Kyon Haibara.

Mr. Otomo, the general producer of RAGE, handed the prize money to each player.

The first prize was 4 million yen, and the second prize was 1 million yen, followed by 400,000 yen and 150,000 yen.

It is amazing to have won out of 6,000 players.

Everyone had a great game.

As for how Zero/Kyon Haibara will spend his prize money, he said he will use it to pay for his job hunting and to go out for drinks with the people who helped him practice.

He was a refreshing young man full of humility and gratitude to his friends. Good luck at the World Championships!

You can play the game before its release!

Next to the PUBG area, there was a corner to try out Zenonzard, a digital card smartphone game that is about to be released.

The table shows how to play, etc., and is kindly designed so that even beginners can play easily with the advice of the AI, which is a feature of this game.

Even I, who thought "card games are too difficult..." was able to proceed with the game with ease.

After playing the game, I was given a real deck "ZENONZARD DECKCODE:0".

I was surprised at the substantial contents of the deck, which I could play right away if I only had it. It is perfect for people who are just starting out.

Looking forward to RAGE Autumn 2019!
